1. And the queen of Saba heard of the name of Solomon, and the name of the Lord, and she came to try him with riddles.	1. 2. vnumber="2">And she came to Jerusalem with a very great type="x-studynote">Gr. force train; and there came camels bearing spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and she came in to Solomon, and told him all that was in her heart.	2. And she came ^H935 to Jerusalem ^H3389 with a very ^H3966 great ^H3515 train ^H2428 , with camels ^H1581 that bore ^H5375 spices ^H1314 , and very ^H3966 much ^H7227 gold ^H2091 , and precious ^H3368 stones ^H68 : and when she was come ^H935 to ^H413 Solomon ^H8010 , she communed ^H1696 with ^H413 him of ^H853 all ^H3605 that ^H834 was ^H1961 in ^H5973 her heart ^H3824 .
3. vnumber="3">And Solomon type="x-studynote">Gr. related to her all her words answered all her questions: and there was not a question overlooked by the king which he did not answer her.	3. 4. And the queen of Saba saw all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house which he built,	4. And when the queen ^H4436 of Sheba ^H7614 had seen ^H7200 ^H853 all ^H3605 Solomon ^H8010 's wisdom ^H2451 , and the house ^H1004 that ^H834 he had built ^H1129 ,
5. vnumber="5">and the provision of Solomon and the sitting of his attendants, and the standing of his servants, and his raiment, and his cup-bearers, and his whole-burnt-offering which he offered in the house of the Lord, and she was type="x-studynote">Or, in ecstasy utterly amazed.	5. 6. vnumber="6">And she said to king Solomon, It was a true report which I heard in my land of type="x-studynote">Gr. word thy words and thy wisdom.	6. And she said ^H559 to ^H413 the king ^H4428 , It was ^H1961 a true ^H571 report ^H1697 that ^H834 I heard ^H8085 in mine own land ^H776 of ^H5921 thy acts ^H1697 and of ^H5921 thy wisdom ^H2451 .
7. vnumber="7">But I believed not them that told me, until I came and my eyes saw: and, behold, the words as they reported to me are not the half: thou hast type="x-studynote">Gr. added good things to them exceeded in goodness all the report which I heard in my land.	7. 8. Blessed are thy wives, blessed are these thy servants who stand before thee continually, who hear all thy wisdom.	8. *Happy ^H835 are* thy men ^H376 , happy ^H835 are these ^H428 thy servants ^H5650 , which stand ^H5975 continually ^H8548 before ^H6440 thee, and that hear ^H8085 ^H853 thy wisdom ^H2451 .**
9. Blessed be the Lord thy God, who has taken pleasure in thee, to set thee upon the throne of Israel, because the Lord loved Israel to establish him for ever; and he has made thee king over them, to execute judgement with justice, and in their causes.	9. Blessed ^H1288 be ^H1961 the LORD ^H3068 thy God ^H430 , which ^H834 delighted ^H2654 in thee , to set ^H5414 thee on ^H5921 the throne ^H3678 of Israel ^H3478 : because the LORD ^H3068 loved ^H157 ^H853 Israel ^H3478 forever ^H5769 , therefore made ^H7760 he thee king ^H4428 , to do ^H6213 judgment ^H4941 and justice ^H6666 .
10. vnumber="10">And she gave to Solomon a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and very many spices, and type="x-studynote">Gr. precious stone precious stones: there had not come any other spices so abundant as those which the queen of Saba gave to king Solomon.	10. 11. And the ship of Chiram which brought the gold from Suphir, brought very much hewn timber and precious stones.	11. And the navy ^H590 also ^H1571 of Hiram ^H2438 , that ^H834 brought ^H5375 gold ^H2091 from Ophir ^H4480 ^H211 , brought in ^H935 from Ophir ^H4480 ^H211 great ^H3966 plenty ^H7235 of almug ^H484 trees ^H6086 , and precious ^H3368 stones ^H68 .
12. And the king made the hewn timber into buttresses of the house of the Lord and the king’s house, and lyres and harps for singers: such hewn timber had not come upon the earth, nor have been seen anywhere until this day.	12. And the king ^H4428 made ^H6213 of ^H853 the almug ^H484 trees ^H6086 pillars ^H4552 for the house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068 , and for the king ^H4428 's house ^H1004 , harps ^H3658 also and psalteries ^H5035 for singers ^H7891 : there came ^H935 no ^H3808 such ^H3651 almug ^H484 trees ^H6086 , nor ^H3808 were seen ^H7200 unto ^H5704 this ^H2088 day ^H3117 .
13. vnumber="13">And king Solomon gave to the queen of Saba all that she desired, whatsoever she asked, besides all that he had given her type="x-studynote">Of his royal bounty, A. V. by the hand of king Solomon: and she returned, and came into her own land, she and her servants.	13. 14. And the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold.	14. 15. Besides the tributes of them that were subjects, both merchants and all the kings of the country beyond the river, and of the princess of the land.	15. Beside ^H905 that he had of the merchantmen ^H4480 ^H376 ^H8446 , and of the traffic ^H4536 of the spice merchants ^H7402 , and of all ^H3605 the kings ^H4428 of Arabia ^H6154 , and of the governors ^H6346 of the country ^H776 .
16. And Solomon made three hundred spears of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold were upon one spear.	16. And king ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 made ^H6213 two hundred ^H3967 targets ^H6793 of beaten ^H7820 gold ^H2091 : six ^H8337 hundred ^H3967 shekels of gold ^H2091 went ^H5927 to ^H5921 one ^H259 target ^H6793 .
17. vnumber="17">And three hundred type="x-studynote">Gr. arms shields of beaten gold: and three pounds of gold were in one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.	17. 19. The throne had six steps, and calves in bold relief to the throne behind it, and side-pieces on either hand of the place of the seat, and two lions standing by the side-pieces,	19. The throne ^H3678 had six ^H8337 steps ^H4609 , and the top ^H7218 of the throne ^H3678 was round ^H5696 behind ^H4480 ^H310 : and there were stays ^H3027 on either side ^H4480 ^H2088 ^H4480 ^H2088 on ^H413 the place ^H4725 of the seat ^H7675 , and two ^H8147 lions ^H738 stood ^H5975 beside ^H681 the stays ^H3027 .
20. and twelve lions standing there on the six steps on either side: it was not so done in any other kingdom.	20. And all ^H3605 king ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 's drinking ^H4945 vessels ^H3627 were of gold ^H2091 , and all ^H3605 the vessels ^H3627 of the house ^H1004 of the forest ^H3293 of Lebanon ^H3844 were of pure ^H5462 gold ^H2091 ; none ^H369 were of silver ^H3701 : it was nothing ^H3808 ^H3972 accounted ^H2803 of in the days ^H3117 of Solomon ^H8010 .
22. vnumber="22">For Solomon had a ship of Tharsis in the sea with the ships of Chiram: one ship came to the king every three years out of Tharsis, laden with gold and silver, and type="x-studynote">Gr. turned wrought stones, and hewn stones. type="x-studynote">LXX text not in Heb. has been left out. This was the arrangement of the type="x-studynote">This word more commonly means «spoil’ in the O.T. provision which king Solomon fetched to build the house of the Lord, and the house of the king, and the wall of Jerusalem, and the citadel; to fortify the city of David, and Assur, and Magdal, and Gazer, and Baethoron the upper, and Jethermath, and all the cities of the chariots, and all the cities of the horsemen, and the type="x-studynote">Gr. work fortification of Solomon which he purposed to build in Jerusalem and in all the land, so that none of the people should rule over him that was left of the Chettite and the Amorite, and the Pherezite, and the Chananite, and the Evite, and the Jebusite, and the Gergesite, who were not of the children of Israel, their descendants who had been left with him in the land, whom the children of Israel could not utterly destroy; and Solomon type="x-studynote">Gr. reduced them to tribute made them tributaries until this day. But of the children of Israel Solomon made nothing; for they were the warriors, and his servants and rulers, and captains of the third order, and the captains of his chariots, and his horsemen.	22. For ^H3588 the king ^H4428 had at sea ^H3220 a navy ^H590 of Tharshish ^H8659 with ^H5973 the navy ^H590 of Hiram ^H2438 : once ^H259 in three ^H7969 years ^H8141 came ^H935 the navy ^H590 of Tharshish ^H8659 , bringing ^H5375 gold ^H2091 , and silver ^H3701 , ivory ^H8143 , and apes ^H6971 , and peacocks ^H8500 .
23. And Solomon increased beyond all the kings of the earth in wealth and wisdom.	23. So king ^H4428 Solomon ^H8010 exceeded all ^H1431 ^H4480 ^H3605 the kings ^H4428 of the earth ^H776 for riches ^H6239 and for wisdom ^H2451 .
24. vnumber="24">And all the kings of the earth sought the type="x-studynote">Gr. face presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom which the Lord had put into his heart.	24. 25. And they brought every one their gifts, vessels of gold, and raiment, and stacte, and spices, and horses, and mules, a rate year by year.	25. And they ^H1992 brought ^H935 every man ^H376 his present ^H4503 , vessels ^H3627 of silver ^H3701 , and vessels ^H3627 of gold ^H2091 , and garments ^H8008 , and armor ^H5402 , and spices ^H1314 , horses ^H5483 , and mules ^H6505 , a rate ^H1697 year ^H8141 by year ^H8141 .
26. vnumber="26">And Solomon had four thousand mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen: and he put them in the cities of his chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem: type="x-studynote">(10:26AA) and he ruled over all the kings from the river to the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt.	26. 28. And the goings forth of Solomon’s horsemen was also out of Egypt, and the king’s merchants were of Thecue; and they received them out of Thecue at a price.	28. And Solomon ^H8010 had horses ^H5483 brought ^H4161 out of Egypt ^H4480 ^H4714 , and linen yarn ^H4480 ^H4723 : the king ^H4428 's merchants ^H5503 received ^H3947 the linen yarn ^H4480 ^H4723 at a price ^H4242 .
29. And that which proceeded out of Egypt went up thus, even a chariot for a hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for fifty shekels of silver: and thus for all the kings of the Chettians, and the kings of Syria, they came out by sea.	29. And a chariot ^H4818 came up ^H5927 and went out ^H3318 of Egypt ^H4480 ^H4714 for six ^H8337 hundred ^H3967 shekels of silver ^H3701 , and a horse ^H5483 for a hundred ^H3967 and fifty ^H2572 : and so ^H3651 for all ^H3605 the kings ^H4428 of the Hittites ^H2850 , and for the kings ^H4428 of Syria ^H758 , did they bring them out ^H3318 by their means ^H3027 .
