2. And he said, Take thy son, the beloved one, whom thou hast loved—Isaac, and go into the high land, and offer him there for a whole-burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3. And Abraam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass, and he took with him two servants, and Isaac his son, and having split wood for a whole-burnt-offering, he arose and departed, and came to the place of which God spoke to him,

4. on the third day; and Abraam having Lit. looked up with lifted up his eyes, saw the place afar off.

5. And Abraam said to his servants, Sit ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will proceed thus far, and having worshipped we will return to you.

5. And Abraham H85 said H559 unto H413 his young men H5288 , Abide H3427 ye here H6311 with H5973 the ass H2543 ; and I H589 and the lad H5288 will go H1980 yonder H5704 H3541 and worship H7812 , and come again H7725 to H413 you.

6. And Abraam took the wood of the whole-burnt-offering, and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took into his hands both the fire and the macairan, a short dagger used both for defence and sacrifice, etc. knife, and the two went together.

7. And Isaac said to Abraam his father, Father. And he said, What is it, son? And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, where is the sheep for a whole-burnt-offering?

7. And Isaac H3327 spoke H559 unto H413 Abraham H85 his father H1 , and said H559 , My father H1 : and he said H559 , Here H2009 am I , my son H1121 . And he said H559 , Behold H2009 the fire H784 and the wood H6086 : but where H346 is the lamb H7716 for a burnt offering H5930 ?

8. And Abraam said, God will provide himself a sheep for a whole-burnt-offering, my son. And both having gone together,

8. And Abraham H85 said H559 , My son H1121 , God H430 will provide H7200 himself a lamb H7716 for a burnt offering H5930 : so they went H1980 both H8147 of them together H3162 .

9. came to the place which God spoke of to him; and there Abraam built the altar, and laid the wood on it, and having bound the feet of Isaac his son together, he laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10. And Abraam stretched forth his hand to take the knife to slay his son.

11. And an angel of the Lord called him out of heaven, and said, Abraam, Abraam. And he said, Behold, I am here.

12. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the child, neither do anything to him, for now I know that thou fearest God, and for my sake thou hast not spared thy beloved son.

13. And Abraam lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! a ram caught by his horns in a Heb. in a thicket plant of Sabec; and Abraam went and took the ram, and offered him up for a whole-burnt-offering in the place of Isaac his son.

13. And Abraham H85 lifted up H5375 H853 his eyes H5869 , and looked H7200 , and behold H2009 behind H310 him a ram H352 caught H270 in a thicket H5442 by his horns H7161 : and Abraham H85 went H1980 and took H3947 H853 the ram H352 , and offered him up H5927 for a burnt offering H5930 in the stead of H8478 his son H1121 .

14. And Abraam called the name of that place, The Lord hath seen; that they might say to-day, In the mount the Lord was seen.
|
14. And Abraham H85 called H7121 the name H8034 of that H1931 place H4725 Jehovah H3070 -jireh: as H834 it is said H559 to this day H3117 , In the mount H2022 of the LORD H3068 it shall be seen H7200 .

15. And an angel of the Lord called Abraam the second time out of heaven, saying,

|
16. I have sworn by myself, says the Lord, because thou hast done this thing, and on my account hast not spared thy beloved son,

16. And said H559 , By myself have I sworn H7650 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 , for H3588 because H3282 H834 thou hast done H6213 H853 this H2088 thing H1697 , and hast not H3808 withheld H2820 H853 thy son H1121 , H853 thine only H3173 son :

17. Heb 6:14 surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and thy seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies.

17. That H3588 in blessing H1288 I will bless H1288 thee , and in multiplying H7235 I will multiply H7235 H853 thy seed H2233 as the stars H3556 of the heaven H8064 , and as the sand H2344 which H834 is upon H5921 the sea H3220 shore H8193 ; and thy seed H2233 shall possess H3423 H853 the gate H8179 of his enemies H341 ;

18. And Ac 3:25 in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast hearkened to my voice.

19. And Abraam returned to his servants, and they arose and went together to the well of the oath; and Abraam dwelt at the well of the oath.

19. So Abraham H85 returned H7725 unto H413 his young men H5288 , and they rose up H6965 and went H1980 together H3162 to H413 Beer H884 -sheba ; and Abraham H85 dwelt H3427 at Beer H884 -sheba.

20. And it came to pass after these things, that it was reported to Abraam, Men, understood saying, Behold, Melcha herself too has born sons to Nachor thy brother,

20. And it came to pass H1961 after H310 these H428 things H1697 , that it was told H5046 Abraham H85 , saying H559 , Behold H2009 , Milcah H4435 , she H1931 hath also H1571 born H3205 children H1121 unto thy brother H251 Nahor H5152 ;

21. Uz the first-born, and Baux his brother, and Camuel the father of the Syrians, and Chazad, and
|
21. H853 Huz H5780 his firstborn H1060 , and Buz H938 his brother H251 , and Kemuel H7055 the father H1 of Aram H758 ,
|
|
22. Azav and Phaldes, and Jeldaph, and Bathuel, and Bathuel begot Rebecca;
|
22. And Chesed H3777 , and Hazo H2375 , and Pildash H6394 , and Jidlaph H3044 , and Bethuel H1328 .
|
|
23. these are eight sons, which Melcha bore to Nachor the brother of Abraam.
|
23. And Bethuel H1328 begot H3205 H853 Rebekah H7259 : these H428 eight H8083 Milcah H4435 did bear H3205 to Nahor H5152 , Abraham H85 's brother H251 .
|
|
24. And his concubine whose name was Rheuma, she also bore Tabec, and Taam, and Tochos, and Mocha.

24. And his concubine H6370 , whose name H8034 was Reumah H7208 , she H1931 bore H3205 also H1571 H853 Tebah H2875 , and Gaham H1514 , and Thahash H8477 , and Maachah H4601 .
