1 اور بہت دنوں کے بعد ایسا ہُوا کہ خُداوند کا یہ کلام تیسرے سال ایلیاہ پر نازل ہوا کہ جا کر اخی اب سے مِل اور مَیں زمین پر مینہ برساونگا ۔

3 سو ایلیاہ اخی اب سے ملنے کو چلا اور سامریہ میں سخت کال تھا ۔

5 اور اخی اب نے عبدیاہ کو جو اُس کے گھر کا دیوان تھا طلب کیا اور عبدیاہ خُداوند سے بہت ڈرتا تھا۔

7 کیونکہ جب ایزبل نے خداوند کے نبیوں کو قتل کیا تو عبدیاہ نے سو نبیوں کو لیکر پچاس پچاس کر کے اُنکو ایک غار میں چھپا دیا اور روٹی اور پانی سے اُنکو پالتا رہا ۔

9 سو اخی اب نے عبدیاہ سے کہا مُلک میں گشت کرتا ہوا پانی کے سب چشموں اور سب نالوں پر جا شاید ہم کو کہیں گھاس مِل جائے جس سے ہم گھوڑوں اور خچروں کو جیتا بچا لیں تاکہ ہمارے سب چوپائے ضائع نہ ہوں ۔

11 سو اُنہوں نے اُس پورے مُلک میں گشت کرنے کے لیے اُسے آپس میں تقسیم کر لیا ۔ اخی اب اکیلا ایک طرف چلا اور عبدیاہ اکیلا دوسری طرف گیا ۔

13 اور عبدیاہ راستہ ہی میں تھا کہ ایلیاہ اُسے مِلا ۔ وہ اُسے پہچان کر منہ کے بل گِرا اور کہنے لگا اے میرے مالک ایلیاہ کیا تُو ہے؟

15 اُس نے اُسے جواب دیا میں ہی ہوں ۔ جا اپنے مالک کو بتا دے کہ ایلیاہ حاضر ہے ۔

17 اُس نے کہا مُجھ سے کیا گناہ ہوا ہے جو تُو اپنے خاد م کو اخی اب کے ہاتھ میں حوالہ کرنا چاہتا ہے تاکہ وہ مجھے قتل کرے ؟

19 خداوند تیرے خُدا کی حیات کی قسم کہ ایسی کوئی قوم یا سلطنت نہیں جہاں میرے مالک نے تیری تلاش کے لیے نہ بھیجا ہو اور جب اُنہوں نے کہا کہ وہ یہاں نہیں تو اُس نے اُس سلطنت اور قوم سے قسم لی کہ تُو اُنکو نہیں مِلا ہے۔

21 اور اب تُو کہتا ہے کہ جا کر اپنے مالک کو خبر کر دے کہ ایلیاہ حاضر ہے۔

23 اور ایسا ہو گا کہ جب میں تیرے پاس سے چلا جاوں گا تو خُداوند کی روح تُجھ کو نہ جانے کہاں لے جائے اور میں جا کر اخی اب کو خبر دوں اور تُو اُسکو کہیں مِل نہ سکے تو وہ مجھ کو قتل کر دے گا لیکن َیں تیرا خادم لڑکپن سے خداوند سے ڈرتا رہا ہوں ۔

25 کیا میرے مالک کو جو کچھ میں نے کیا ہے نہیں بتایا گیا کہ جب ایزبل نے خُداوند کے نبیوں کو قتل کیا تو میں نے خُداوند کے نبیوں میں سے سو آدمیوں کو لیکر پچاس پچاس کر کے اُنکو ایک غار میں چھپایا او ر اُنکو روٹی اور پانی سے پالتا رہا ؟

27 اور اب تُو کہتا ہے کہ جا کر اپنے مالک کو خبر دے کہ ایلیاہ حاضر ہے ۔ سو وہ تو مجھے مار ڈالے گا ۔

29 تب ایلیاہ نے کہا رب الافواج کی حیات کی قسم جس کے سامنے میں کھڑا ہوں ۔ میں آج اُس سے ضرور مِلونگا ۔

31 سو عبدیاہ اخی اب سے ملنے کو گیا اور اُسے خبر دی اور اخی اب ایلیاہ کی مُلاقات کو چلا ۔

33 اور جب اخی اب نے ایلیاہ کو دیکھا تو اُس نے اُس سے کہا اے اسرائیل کے ستانے والے کیا تُو ہی ہے ؟

35 اُس نے جواب دیا میں نے اسرائیل کو نہیں ستایا بلکہ تُو اور تیرے باپ کے گھرانے نے کیونکہ تُم نے خُداوند کے حکموں کو ترک کیا اور تُو بعلیم کا پرو ہو گیا ۔

37 اِس لیے اب تُو قاصد بھیج اور سارے اسرائیل کو اور بعل کے ساڑھے چار سو نبیوں کو اور یسیرت کے چار سو نبیوں کو جو ایزبل کے دسترخوان پر کھاتے ہیں کوہِ کرمل پر میرے پاس اکٹھا کر دے ۔

39 سو اخی اب نے سب بنی اسرائیل کو بُلا بھیجا اور نبیوں کو کوہِ کرمل پر اکٹھا کیا ۔

41 اور ایلیاہ سب لوگوں کے نزدیک آکر کہنے لگا تُم کب تک دو خیالوں میں ڈانواڈول رہو گے ؟ اگر خُداوند ہی خُدا ہے تو اُسکے پیرو ہو جاو اور اگر بعل ہے تو اُسکی پیروی کرو ۔ پر اُن لوگوں نے اُسے ایک حرف جواب نہ دیا ۔

43 تب ایلیاہ نے اُن لوگوں سے کہا ایک میں ہی اکیلا خُداون کا نبی بچ رہا ہوں ہر بعل کے نبی چار سو پچاس آدمی ہیں ۔

45 سو ہم کو دو بیل دیے جائیں اور وہ اپنے لیے ایک بیل چُن لیں اور اُسے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کاٹکر لکڑیوں پر دھریں اور نیچے آگ نہ دیں اور میں دوسرا بیل تیار کر کے اُسے لکڑیوں پر دھرونگا اور نیچے آگ نہیں دونگا ۔

47 تب تُم اپنے دیوتا سے دعا کرنا اور میں خداوند سے دعا کرونگا اور وہ خدا جو آگ سے جواب دے رہی خدا ٹھہرے اور سب لوگ بول اُٹھے خوب کہا !۔

49 سو ایلیاہ نے بعل کے نبیوں سے کہا کہ تُم اپنے لیے ایک بیل چُن لو اور پہلے اُسے تار کرو کیونکہ تُم بہت سے ہو اور اپنے دیوتا سے دعا کرو لیکن نیچے آگ نہ دینا ۔

51 سو اُنہوں نے اُس بیل کو لیکر جو اُنکو دیا گیا اُسے تیار کیا اور صبح سے دوپہر تک بعل سے دعا کرتے اور کہتے رہے اے بعل ہماری سُن پر نہ کچھ آواز ہوئی اور نہ کوئی جواب دینے والا تھا اور وہ اُس مذبح کے گرد جو بنایا گیا تھا کُودتے رہے ۔

53 اور دوپہر کو ایسا ہوا کہ ایلیاہ نے اُنکو چڑا کر کہا بُلند آواز سے پُکارو کیونکہ وہ تو دیوتا ہے ۔ وہ کسی سوچ میں ہو گا یا وہ خلوت میں ہے یا کہیں سفر میں ہو گا یا شاید وہ سوتا ہے ۔ سو ضرور ہے کہ وہ جگایا جائے۔

55 تب وہ بُلند آواز سے پُکارنے لگے اور اپنے دستور کے مطابق اپنے آپ کو چھُریوں اور نشتروں سے گھایل کر لیا یہاں تک کہ لہو لہان ہو گئے ۔

57 وہ دوپہر ڈھلے پر بھی شام کی قُربانی چڑھا کر نبوت کرتے رہے پر نہ کچھ آٓواز ہوئی نہ کوئی جواب دینے والا نہ توجہ کرنے والا تھا ۔

59 تب ایلیاہ نے سب لوگوں سے کہا کہ میرے نزدک آجاو چنانچہ سب لوگ اُس کے نزدیک آ گئے ۔ تب اُس نے خُداوند کے اُس مذبح کو جو ڈھا دیا گیا تھا مرمت کیا ۔

61 اور ایلیاہ نے یعقوب کے بیٹوں کے قبیلوں کے شمار کے مطابق جس پر خُداوند کا یہ کلام نازل ہوا تھا کہ تیرا نام اسرائیل ہو گا بارہ پتھر لیے ۔

63 اور اُس نے اُن پتھروں سے خُداوند کے نام کا ایک مذبح بنایا اور مذبح کے اردگرد اُس نے ایسی بڑی کھائی کھودی جس میں دو پیمانے بیج کی سمائی تھی ۔

65 اور لکڑیوں کو قرینہ سے چُنا اور بیل کے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کاٹ کر لکڑیوں پر دھر دیا اور کہا چار مٹکے پانی ے بھر کر اُس سوختنی قُربانی پر اور لکڑیوں پر انڈیل دو۔

67 پھر اُس نے کہا دوبارہ کرو ۔ اُنہوں نے دوبارہ کیا ۔ پھر اُس نے کا سہ بارہ کرو۔ سو اُنہوں نے سہ بارہ بھی کیا ۔

69 اور پانی مذبح کے گردا گرد بہنے لگا اور اُس نے کھائی بھی پانی سے بھروا دی ۔

71 اور شام کی قُربانی چڑھانے کے وقت ایلیاہ نبی نزدیک آیا اور اُس نے کہا اے خداوند ابراہام اور اضحاق اور اسرائیل کے خُدا ! آج معلوم ہو جائے کہ اسرائیل میں تُو ہی خُدا ہے اور میں تیرا بندہ ہوں اور میں نے اِن سب باتوں کو تیرے ہی حکم سے کیا ہے۔

73 میری سُن اے خُداوند میری سُن تاکہ یہ لوگ جان جائیں کہ اے خُداوند تُو ہی خدا ہے اور تُو نے پھر اُنکے دلوں کو پھیر دیا ہے ۔

75 تب خُداوند کی آگ نازل ہوئی اور اُس نے اُس سوختنی قُربانی کو لکڑیوں اور پتھروں اور مٹی سمیت بھسم کر دیا اور اُس پانی کو جو کھائی میں تھا چاٹ لیا ۔

77 جب سب لوگوں نے یہ دیکھا تو منہ کے بل گرے اور کہنے لگے خُداوند وہی خدا ہے ! خُداوند وہی خُدا ہے !۔

79 ایلیاہ نے اُن سے کہا بعل کے نبیوں کو پکڑ لو۔ اُن میں سے ایک بھی جانے نہ پائے ۔ سو اُنہوں نے اُنکو پکڑ لیا اور ایلیاہ اُنکو نیچے قسیون کے نالہ پر لے آیا اور وہاں اُنکو قتل کر دیا ۔

81 پھر ایلیاہ نے اخی اب سے کہا اوپر چڑھ جا ۔ کھا اور پی کیونکہ کثرت کی بارش کی آواز ہے ۔

83 سو اخی اب کھانے پینے کو اوپر چلا گیا اور ایلیاہ کرمل کی چوٹی پر چڑھ گیا اور زمین پر سرنگون ہو کر اپنا منہ اپنے گھٹنوں کے بیچ کر لیا ۔

85 اور اپنے خادم سے کہا ذرا اوپر جا کر سمندر کی طرف تو نظر کر ۔ سو اُس نے اوپر جا کر نظر کی اور کہاں وہاں کچھ بھی نہیں ہے ۔ اُس نے کہا پھر سات بار جا ۔

87 اور ساتویں مرتبہ اُس نے کہا دیکھ ایک چھوٹا سا بادل آدمی کے ہاتھ کے برابر سمندر میں سے اُٹھا ہے ۔ تب اُس نے کہا جا اور اخی اب سے کہہ کہ اپنا رتھ تیار کرا کے نیچے اُتر جا تاکہ بارش تُجھے روک نہ لے۔

89 اور تھوڑی ہی دیر میں آسمان گھٹا اور آندھی سے سیاہ ہو گیا اور بڑی بارش ہوئی اور اخی اب سوار ہو کر یزرعیل کو چلا ۔

91 اور خُداوند کا ہاتھ ایلیاہ پر تھا اور اُس نے اپنی کمر کس لی اور اخی اب کے آگے آگے یزرعیل کے مدخل تک دوڑا چلا گیا ۔

1 And it came to pass ^H1961 after many ^H7227 days, ^H3117 that the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to ^H413 Elijah ^H452 in the third ^H7992 year, ^H8141 saying, ^H559 Go, ^H1980 show thyself ^H7200 unto ^H413 Ahab; ^H256 and I will send ^H5414 rain ^H4306 upon ^H5921 ^H6440 the earth. ^H127

2 And Elijah ^H452 went ^H1980 to show himself ^H7200 unto ^H413 Ahab. ^H256 And there was a sore ^H2389 famine ^H7458 in Samaria. ^H8111

3 And Ahab ^H256 called ^H7121 ^H413 Obadiah, ^H5662 which ^H834 was the governor ^H5921 of his house. ^H1004 (Now Obadiah ^H5662 feared ^H1961 ^H3372 ^H853 the LORD ^H3068 greatly: ^H3966

4 For it was ^H1961 so , when Jezebel ^H348 cut off ^H3772 ^H853 the prophets ^H5030 of the LORD, ^H3068 that Obadiah ^H5662 took ^H3947 a hundred ^H3967 prophets, ^H5030 and hid ^H2244 them by fifty ^H2572 ^H376 in a cave, ^H4631 and fed ^H3557 them with bread ^H3899 and water. ^H4325 )

11 And now ^H6258 thou ^H859 sayest, ^H559 Go, ^H1980 tell ^H559 thy lord, ^H113 Behold, ^H2009 Elijah ^H452 is here .

12 And it shall come to pass, ^H1961 as soon as I ^H589 am gone ^H1980 from ^H4480 ^H854 thee , that the Spirit ^H7307 of the LORD ^H3068 shall carry ^H5375 thee whither ^H5921 ^H834 I know ^H3045 not; ^H3808 and so when I come ^H935 and tell ^H5046 Ahab, ^H256 and he cannot ^H3808 find ^H4672 thee , he shall slay ^H2026 me : but I thy servant ^H5650 fear ^H3372 ^H853 the LORD ^H3068 from my youth ^H4480 ^H5271 .

17 And it came to pass, ^H1961 when Ahab ^H256 saw ^H7200 ^H853 Elijah, ^H452 that Ahab ^H256 said ^H559 unto ^H413 him, Art thou ^H859 he that ^H2088 troubleth ^H5916 Israel ^H3478 ?

18 And he answered, ^H559 I have not ^H3808 troubled ^H5916 ^H853 Israel; ^H3478 but ^H3588 ^H518 thou, ^H859 and thy father's ^H1 house, ^H1004 in that ye have forsaken ^H5800 ^H853 the commandments ^H4687 of the LORD, ^H3068 and thou hast followed ^H1980 ^H310 Baalim. ^H1168

25 And Elijah ^H452 said ^H559 unto the prophets ^H5030 of Baal, ^H1168 Choose ^H977 you one ^H259 bullock ^H6499 for yourselves , and dress ^H6213 it first; ^H7223 for ^H3588 ye ^H859 are many; ^H7227 and call ^H7121 on the name ^H8034 of your gods, ^H430 but put ^H7760 no ^H3808 fire ^H784 under .

28 And they cried ^H7121 aloud ^H6963 ^H1419 , and cut themselves ^H1413 after their manner ^H4941 with knives ^H2719 and lancets, ^H7420 till ^H5704 the blood ^H1818 gushed out ^H8210 upon ^H5921 them.

29 And it came to pass, ^H1961 when midday ^H6672 was past, ^H5674 and they prophesied ^H5012 until ^H5704 the time of the offering ^H5927 of the evening sacrifice, ^H4503 that there was neither ^H369 voice, ^H6963 nor ^H369 any to answer, ^H6030 nor ^H369 any that regarded. ^H7182

32 And with ^H854 the stones ^H68 he built ^H1129 an altar ^H4196 in the name ^H8034 of the LORD: ^H3068 and he made ^H6213 a trench ^H8585 about ^H5439 the altar, ^H4196 as great as would contain ^H1004 two measures ^H5429 of seed. ^H2233

33 And he put ^H6186 ^H853 the wood ^H6086 in order , and cut ^H5408 ^H853 the bullock ^H6499 in pieces , and laid ^H7760 him on ^H5921 the wood, ^H6086 and said, ^H559 Fill ^H4390 four ^H702 barrels ^H3537 with water, ^H4325 and pour ^H3332 it on ^H5921 the burnt sacrifice, ^H5930 and on ^H5921 the wood. ^H6086

34 And he said, ^H559 Do it the second time. ^H8138 And they did it the second time. ^H8138 And he said, ^H559 Do it the third time. ^H8027 And they did it the third time. ^H8027

35 And the water ^H4325 ran ^H1980 round about ^H5439 the altar; ^H4196 and he filled ^H4390 ^H853 the trench ^H8585 also ^H1571 with water. ^H4325
