1 اس کے بعد یشوع نے اسرائیل کے سب قبیلوں کو سکم میں جمع کیا اور اسرائیل کے بزرگوں اور سرداروں اور قاضیوں اور منصبداروں کو بلوایا اور وہ خدا کے حضور حاضر ہوئے۔
2 تب یشوع نے ان سے لوگوں سے کہا کہ خداوند اسرائیل کا خدا یوں فرماتا ہے کہ تمہارے ابا یعنی ابراہام اور بحور کا باپ تارح وغیرہ قدیم زمانہ میں بڑے دریا کے پار رہتے اور دوسرے معبودوں کی پرستش کرتے تھے۔
3 اور میں نے تمہارے باپ ابراہا م کو بڑے دریا سے لے کر کعنان کے سارے ملک میں اسکی رہبری کی اور اسکی نسل کو بڑھایا اور اسکو اضحاق عنایت کیا۔
4 اور میں نے اضحاق کو عیسو اور یعقوب بخشے اور عیسو کو کوہ شعیر دیا کہ وہ اس کا مالک ہو اور یعقوب اپنی اولاد سمیت مصر میں گیا۔
5 اور میں نے موسیٰ اور ہارون کو بھیجا اور مصر پر جو جو میں نے اس میں کیا اس کے مطابق میری مار پڑی اور اس کے بعد میں تم کو نکال لایا۔
6 تمہارے باپ دادا کو میں نے مصر سے نکالا اور تم سمندر پر آئے۔ تب مصریوں نے رتھوں اور سواروں کو لے کر بحر قلزم تک تمہارے باپ دادا کا پیچھا کیا۔
7 اور جب انہوں نے خداوند سے فریاد کی تو اس نے تمہارے اور مصریوں کے درمیان اندھیرا کر دیااور سمندر کو ان پر چڑھا لایا اور ان کو چھپا دیا اور تم نے جو کچھ میں نے مصر میں کیا اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھا اور تم بہت دنوں تک بیابان میں رہے۔
8 پھر میں تم کو اموریوں کے ملک میں جو یردن کے اس پار رہتے تھے لے آیا۔ وہ تم سے لڑے اور میں نے تم ان کو تمہارے ہاتھ میں کر دیا اور تم نے ان کے ملک میں قبضہ کر لیا اور میں نے ان کو تمہارے آگے سے ہلاک کیا۔
9 پھر صفور کا بیٹا بلق موآب بادشاہ اٹھ کر اسرائیلیوں سے لڑا اور تم پر لعنت کرنے کو بعور کے بیٹے بلعام کو بلوا بھیجا۔
10 پر میں نے نہ چاہا کہ بلعام کی سنوں۔ اس لئے وہ تم کو برکت ہی دیتا گیا۔ سو میں نے تم کو اس کے ہاتھ سے چھڑایا۔
11 پھر تم یردن پار ہو کر یریحو کو آئے اور یریحو کے لوگ یعنی اموری اور فرزی اور کعنانی اور حتی اور جرجاسی اور حوی اور یبوسی تم سے لڑے اور میں نے ان کو تمہارے ہاتھ میں کر دیا۔
12 اور میں نے تمہارے آگے زنبوروں کو بھیجا جنہوںنے دونوں اموری بادشاہوں کو تمہارے سامنے سے بھگا دیا۔ یہ نہ تمہاری تلوار اور نہ تمہاری کمان سے ہوا۔
13 اور میں نے تم کو وہ ملک جس پر تم نے محنت نہ کی اور وہ شہر جن کو تم نے بنایا نہ تھا عنائت کئے اور تم ان میں بسے ہو اور تم ایسے تاکستانوں اور ایسوں زیتون کے باغوں کا پھل کھاتے ہو جن کو تم نے نہیں لگایا۔
14 پس تم خداوند کا خوف رکھو اور نیک نیتی اور صداقت سے اسکی پرستش کرو اور ان دیوتاﺅں کو دور کر دو جن کی پرستش تمہارے باپ دادا دریا کے پار اور مصر میں کرتے تھے اور خداوند کی پرستش کرو۔
15 اور اگر خداوند کی پرستش تمہیں بری معلوم ہوتی ہے تو آج ہی اسے جس کی تم پرستش کرو گے چن لو۔ خواہ وہ وہی دیوتا ہوں جن کی پرستش تمہارے باپ دادا بڑے دریا کے اس پار کرتے تھے یا اموریوں کے دیوتا ہوں جن کے ملک میں تم بسے ہو۔ اب رہی میری اور میرے گھرانے کی بات سو ہم تو خداوند کی پرستش کریں گے۔
16 تب لوگوں نے جواب دیا کہ خدا نہ کرے کہ ہم خداوند کو چھوڑ کر اور معبودوں کی پرستش کریں۔
17 کیونکہ خداوند ہمارا خدا وہی ہے جس نے ہم کو اور ہمارے باپ دادا کو ملک مصر یعنی غلامی کے گھر سے نکالا اور وہ بڑے بڑے نشان ہمارے سامنے دکھائے اور سارے راستہ جس میں ہم چلے اور ان سب قوموں کے درمیان جن میں سے ہم گزرے ہم کو محفوظ رکھا۔
18 اور خداوند نے سب قوموں یعنی اموریوں کو جو اس ملک میں بستے تھے ہمارے سامنے سے نکال دیا۔ سو ہم بھی خداوند کی پرستش کریں گے کیونکہ وہ ہمارا خدا ہے۔ یشوع نے لوگوں سے کہا تم خداوند کی پرستش نہیں کر سکتے کیونکہ وہ پاک خدا ہے۔ وہ غیور خدا ہے۔ وہ تمہاری خطائیں اور تمہارے گناہ نہیں بخشے گا۔
19 اگر تم خداوند کو چھوڑ کر اجنبی معبودوں کی پرستش کرو تو اگرچہ وہ تم سے نیکی کرتا رہا ہے تو بھی وہ پھر کر تم سے برائی کرے گا اور تم کو فنا کر ڈالے گا۔
20
21 لوگوں نے یشوع سے کہا نہیں ہم پھر بھی خداوند ہی کی پرستش کریں گے۔
22 یشوع نے لوگوں سے کہا تم آپ ہی اپنے گواہ ہو کہ تم نے خداوند کو چنا ہے کہ اس کی پرستش کرو۔ انہوں نے کہا ہم گواہ ہیں۔
23 تب اس نے کہا پس اب تم اجنبی معبودوں کو جو تمہارے درمیان ہیں دور کر دو اور اپنے دلوں کو خداوند اپنے خدا کی طرف مائل کرو۔
24 لوگوں نے یشوع سے کہا ہم خداوند اپنے خدا کی پرستش کریں گے اور اسی کی بات مانیں گے۔
25 سو یشوع نے اسی روز لوگوں کے ساتھ عہد باندھا اور ان کےلئے سکم میں آئیں اور قانون ٹھہرایا۔
26 اور یشوع نے یہ باتیں خدا کی شریعت کی کتا ب میں لکھ دیں اور ایک بڑا پتھر لے کر اسے وہیں اس بلوط کے درخت کے نیچے جو خداوند کے مقدس کے پاس تھا نصب کیا۔
27 اور یشوع نے سب لوگوں سے کہا کہ دیکھو یہ پتھر ہمارا گواہ رہے کیونکہ اس نے خداوند کی سب باتیں جو اس نے ہم سے کہیں سنی ہیں اس لئے یہی تم پر گواہ رہے تا نہ ہو کہ تم اپنے خداوند کا انکار کر جاﺅ۔
28 پھر یشوع نے لوگوں کو ان کی اپنی اپنی میراث کی طرف رخصت کر دیا۔
29 اور ان باتوں کے بعد یوں ہوا کہ نون کا بیٹ یشوع خڈاوند کا بندہ ایک سو دس برس کا ہو کر رحلت کر گیا۔
30 اور انہوں نے اسی کی میراث کی حد پر تمنت سرح میں جو افرائیم کے کوہستانی ملک میں کوہ جعس کے شمال کی طرف کو ہے اسے دفن کیا۔
31 اور اسرائیلی خدا کی پرستش یشوع کے جیتے جی اور ان بزرگوں کے جیتے جی کرتے رہے جو یشوع کے بعد زندہ رہے اور خداوند کے سب کاموں سے جو اس نے اسرائیلیوں کے لئے کئے واقف تھے۔
32 اور انہوں نے یوسف کی ہڈیوں کو جن بنی اسرائیل مصر سے لے آئے تھے سکم میں اس زمین کے قطعہ میں دفن کیا جسے یعقوب نے سکم کے باپ حمور کے بیٹوں سے چاندی کے سو سکوں میں خریدا تھا اور وہ زمین بنی یوسف کی میراث ٹھہری۔
33 اور ہارون کے بیٹے الیعرز نے رحلت کی اور انہوں نے اسے اس کے بیٹے فنحاس کی پہاڑی پر دفن کیا جو افرائیم کے کوہستانی ملک میں اسے دی گئی تھی۔

2 And Joshua H3091 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP all H3605 NMS the people H5971 , Thus H3541 saith H559 W-VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS God H430 NAME-4MP of Israel H3478 , Your fathers H1 dwelt H3427 VQQ3MP on the other side H5676 of the flood H5104 D-NMS in old time H5769 , even Terah H8646 EMS , the father H1 CMS-1MS of Abraham H85 , and the father H1 of Nachor H5152 EMS : and they served H5647 other H312 gods H430 EDP .
3 And I took H3947 your father H1 Abraham H85 from the other side H5676 M-CMS of the flood H5104 D-NMS , and led H1980 him throughout all H3605 B-CMS the land H776 GFS of Canaan H3667 EMS , and multiplied H7235 his seed H2233 NMS-3MS , and gave H5414 him Isaac H3327 .
4 And I gave H5414 unto Isaac H3327 Jacob H3290 and Esau H6215 : and I gave H5414 unto Esau H6215 mount H2022 CMS Seir H8165 LFS , to possess H3423 it ; but Jacob H3290 and his children H1121 W-CMP-3MS went down H3381 into Egypt H4714 .

8 And I brought H935 you into H413 PREP the land H776 GFS of the Amorites H567 D-TMS , which dwelt H3427 on the other side H5676 Jordan H3383 D-EFS ; and they fought H3898 with H854 PART-2MP you : and I gave H5414 them into your hand H3027 B-CFS-2MP , that ye might possess H3423 their land H776 ; and I destroyed H8045 them from before H6440 you .
9 Then Balak H1111 the son H1121 of Zippor H6834 , king H4428 NMS of Moab H4124 , arose H6965 W-VQY3MS and warred H3898 against Israel H3478 , and sent H7971 W-VQY3MS and called H7121 W-VQY3MS Balaam H1109 the son H1121 of Beor H1160 to curse H7043 L-VPFC you :
10 But I would H14 not H3808 W-NPAR hearken H8085 unto Balaam H1109 ; therefore he blessed H1288 W-VNY3MS you still : so I delivered H5337 you out of his hand H3027 .
11 And ye went over H5674 Jordan H3383 D-EFS , and came H935 unto H413 PREP Jericho H3405 : and the men H1167 of Jericho H3405 fought H3898 against you , the Amorites H567 , and the Perizzites H6522 WD-EMS , and the Canaanites H3669 WD-EMS , and the Hittites H2850 , and the Girgashites H1622 , the Hivites H2340 D-TMS , and the Jebusites H2983 ; and I delivered H5414 them into your hand H3027 .
12 And I sent H7971 the hornet H6880 before H6440 you , which drove them out H1644 from before H6440 you , even the two H8147 ONUM kings H4428 CMP of the Amorites H567 D-TMS ; but not H3808 NADV with thy sword H2719 , nor H3808 W-NADV with thy bow H7198 .
13 And I have given H5414 you a land H776 GFS for which H834 RPRO ye did not H3808 ADV labor H3021 , and cities H5892 which H834 RPRO ye built H1129 not H3808 NADV , and ye dwell H3427 in them ; of the vineyards H3754 and oliveyards H2132 which H834 RPRO ye planted H5193 not H3808 ADV do ye H859 PPRO-2MS eat H398 .
14 Now therefore H6258 W-ADV fear H3372 the LORD H3068 EDS , and serve H5647 him in sincerity H8549 and in truth H571 : and put away H5493 the gods H430 EDP which H834 RPRO your fathers H1 served H5647 VQQ3MP on the other side H5676 of the flood H5104 D-NMS , and in Egypt H4714 ; and serve H5647 ye the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
15 And if H518 PART it seem evil H7489 unto you H5869 to serve H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS , choose H977 you this day H3117 D-AMS whom H4310 IPRO ye will serve H5647 ; whether H518 PART the gods H430 EDP which H834 RPRO your fathers H1 served H5647 VQQ3MP that H834 RPRO were on the other side H5676 of the flood H5104 D-NMS , or H518 PART the gods H430 NAME-4MP of the Amorites H567 D-TMS , in whose land H776 ye H859 PPRO-2MS dwell H3427 : but as for me H595 W-PPRO-1MS and my house H1004 , we will serve H5647 the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
16 And the people H5971 answered H6030 W-VQY3MS and said H559 W-VQY3MS , God forbid H2486 IJEC-3FS that we should forsake H5800 the LORD H3068 EDS , to serve H5647 other H312 gods H430 EDP ;
17 For H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS our God H430 , he H1931 PPRO-3MS it is that brought H5927 us up and our fathers H1 out of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS , from the house H1004 of bondage H5650 NMP , and which H834 RPRO did H6213 VQQ3MS those H428 D-DPRO-3MP great H1419 signs H226 in our sight H5869 , and preserved H8104 us in all H3605 B-CMS the way H1870 D-NMS wherein H834 RPRO we went H1980 , and among all H3605 the people H5971 through H7130 whom we passed H5674 :
18 And the LORD H3068 EDS drove out H1644 W-VPQ3MS from before H6440 us all H3605 NMS the people H5971 , even the Amorites H567 D-TMS which dwelt H3427 VQPMS in the land H776 D-GFS : therefore will we H587 PPRO-1MP also H1571 CONJ serve H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS ; for H3588 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS is our God H430 .
19 And Joshua H3091 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the people H5971 , Ye cannot H3808 NADV serve H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS : for H3588 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS is a holy H6918 God H430 EDP ; he H1931 PPRO-3MS is a jealous H7072 God H410 NMS ; he will not H3808 ADV forgive H5375 VQY3MS your transgressions H6588 nor your sins H2403 .
20 If H3588 CONJ ye forsake H5800 the LORD H3068 EDS , and serve H5647 strange H5236 gods H430 CDP , then he will turn H7725 W-VQQ3MS and do you hurt H7489 , and consume H3615 you , after H310 PREP that H834 RPRO he hath done you good H3190 VHQ3MS .
21 And the people H5971 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Joshua H3091 , Nay H3808 NADV ; but H3588 CONJ we will serve H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS .
22 And Joshua H3091 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the people H5971 , Ye H859 PPRO-2MS are witnesses H5707 against yourselves that H3588 CONJ ye H859 PPRO-2MS have chosen H977 you the LORD H3068 EDS , to serve H5647 him . And they said H559 W-VQY3MS , We are witnesses H5707 .
23 Now H6258 W-ADV therefore put away H5493 , said he , the strange H5236 gods H430 CDP which H834 RPRO are among H7130 you , and incline H5186 your heart H3824 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 LMS .
24 And the people H5971 said H559 W-VQY3MP unto H413 PREP Joshua H3091 , The LORD H3068 EDS our God H430 will we serve H5647 , and his voice H6963 will we obey H8085 .
25 So Joshua H3091 made H3772 a covenant H1285 NFS with the people H5971 that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS , and set H7760 W-VQY3MS them a statute H2706 NMS and an ordinance H4941 W-NMS in Shechem H7927 .
26 And Joshua H3091 wrote H3789 these H428 D-DPRO-3MP words H1697 AMP in the book H5612 of the law H8451 CFS of God H430 EDP , and took H3947 W-VQY3MS a great H1419 AMS-3FS stone H68 GFS , and set it up H6965 there H8033 under H8478 NMS an oak H427 , that H834 RPRO was by the sanctuary H4720 of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
27 And Joshua H3091 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP all H3605 NMS the people H5971 , Behold H2009 IJEC , this H2063 D-DFS stone H68 shall be H1961 VQY2MS a witness H5713 unto us ; for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3FS hath heard H8085 VQQ3FS all H3605 NMS the words H561 CMP of the LORD H3068 EDS which H834 RPRO he spoke H1696 VPQ3MS unto H5973 PREP-1MP us : it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS therefore a witness H5713 unto you , lest H6435 ye deny H3584 your God H430 .
28 So Joshua H3091 let the people H5971 depart H7971 W-VPY3MS , every man H376 NMS unto his inheritance H5159 .
29 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS after H310 ADV these H428 D-DPRO-3MP things H1697 AMP , that Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126 , the servant H5650 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , died H4191 W-VQY3MS , being a hundred H3967 MFS and ten H6235 years old H8141 .
30 And they buried H6912 him in the border H1366 of his inheritance H5159 in Timnathserah H8556 , which H834 RPRO is in mount H2022 Ephraim H669 , on the north side H6828 of the hill H2022 of Gaash H1608 .
31 And Israel H3478 served H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS all H3605 NMS the days H3117 CMP of Joshua H3091 , and all H3605 NMS the days H3117 CMP of the elders H2205 that H834 RPRO overlived H748 Joshua H3091 , and which H834 RPRO had known H3045 VQQ3MP all H3605 NMS the works H4639 M-CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , that H834 RPRO he had done H6213 VQQ3MS for Israel H3478 .
32 And the bones H6106 of Joseph H3130 , which H834 RPRO the children H1121 CMP of Israel H3478 brought up H5927 out of Egypt H4714 M-TFS , buried H6912 they in Shechem H7927 , in a parcel H2513 of ground H7704 D-NMS which H834 RPRO Jacob H3290 bought H7069 of the sons H1121 of Hamor H2544 the father H1 CMS of Shechem H7928 for a hundred H3967 pieces of silver H7192 NFS : and it became H1961 W-VQY3MP the inheritance H5159 of the children H1121 of Joseph H3130 .
33 And Eleazar H499 the son H1121 of Aaron H175 died H4191 ; and they buried H6912 him in a hill H1389 that pertained to Phinehas H6372 his son H1121 CMS-3MS , which H834 RPRO was given H5414 him in mount H2022 Ephraim H669 .
